A week or so ago, I managed to clear the ottoman (it's about 3'x4' and tends to get used as a table and worse). This means that it can be turned up on it's side pretty easily and leaves space to use the WiiFit. It also acts as a great balancing surface while stretching and doing wiifit things.

I am from this point on to remember that music and exersize work miracles on my attitude and I should use them as often as possible in place of other self-medicating options.

Astoundingly, between my efforts and J's and some help from K, we now have a mostly-clear living room AND a table which can seat three people. The fourth side still needs some work. STILL. This is incredible progress.

I am working hard to not be bitter that tonight I:
-forced J to do unpacking work instead of playing games (this is her third day off in a row)
-made dinner
-washed the dishes already in the sink
-put away the clean dishes on the rack
-washed the dinner dishes
-packed up the dinner left-overs in tupperware

Yeah. The fact that I cook or eat and leave 0-1 items of dirty dish in the sink, then return the next time I cook or eat to find 4-5 items of dished and silverware in the sink, on the stove, etc.... it is starting to get to me.

We've been living in the new apartment - the one that will live forever as 221. Seriously. It's #221, and there are three rooms, with mine in the middle, so I officially live in 221B. Because I say so.

1) Have new kitchen table and day off tomorrow, have also been turned into zombie by 19 hours awake and was useless all afternoon.
2) Have been reading fic again.
2b) Lorem Ipsum may be the best thing I've found in fandom in a long while. It absolutely made my week. There is so much to love about it. Also - Marie has art for it! Lots of art! AND there's podfic for two bits. AND AND she has blanket permission to podfic or remix the series!
2c) If well-handled kink/DS/S&M are [personal profile] calhale's thing... then I've remembered that MMF OT3s are absolutely mine. Dear sweet fuck, Lorem Ipsum had... everything. And it is amazing. I need to go find our Masako threesomes or something maybe.
3) Get to start adding music to Minds Like Ours. Which is back from beta-listener with no terrible edits. ^_^
4) Listening to the Sherlock soundtracks and to as many of Caitlin's brilliant songs as I can get hold of makes me a little giddy.

Unrelated art: this and this are the sweetest things I've ever seen.
setra: (Default)
This is one of the sweetest things I've seen/heard in a while. Mix of a bunch of Chinese fans edited together and singing Spica in honor of Maaya Sakamoto's 30th birthday.

The sort of thing I should remember to watch when I want to feel like the world is an awesome place after all.

This entry is a placeholder because I really need to go to sleep now.
I need to talk about October Project, and Mary Fahl, and Marina Belica, and the resurection of this amazing beautiful music in the November Project and the new October Project. These songs have lyrics that make me feel alive, that make me want to create, that soothe my heart and make me want to sing and dance.

There's also a squee filled, gasp filled rant coming about Glee season 3. Because so much has happened in the 6 episodes I've watched. I love Darren Criss with the passion of a thousand suns, but that's not news. I'm a huge Mike Chang/Harry Shum Jr. fan too. And Naya Rivera and Kevin Mchale of course. Gah! And Burt! And Sebasitan! And DAMIEN (Rory, but still Damien to me)!!!!

A thought

There are two songs in my heart right now, both in the same vein. Probably because I'm on a "Children of Eden" kick lately but...
I hope one day I will have children, and I hope on that day, that I will remember to love without demanding and raise my children with their own thoughts.
"The Hardest Part of Love" from Children of Eden - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLI6mBG1k
"On Children" by Sweet Honey in the Rock - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCVvoL_F5gA
And now I think it's time for a nap. Have a good weekend everybunny.

I survived Saturday! E and I are both getting rather annoyed with the fact that certain people who are responsible for the schedule are not balancing coverage, so those of us with no control over the schedule are left without coverage a lot of the time.

Now I'm listening to "For Good" for the eight-billionth time. It had never really struck me before, I loved "No Good Deed" and "Defying Gravity" of course, but until I saw it in the upcoming song list at the end of Glee Season 2 I hadn't listened to it much. Now I love it. So much.

Of course my iPod follows that up with "The Guilty Ones" from Spring Avakening. Which is just such a sweet soft introspective song. God I love that soundtrack. The whole show actually. reminds me of little Emily and of Cass. Little Emily who is pregnant now. Barely more than a child, carrying a child. I don't know what to say to her.

Aaaand sunday followup, work was blah, but Rob and I both have assassin-ish hoodies for the launch tomorrow night and I finished my assassin bag too. Soooo excited. Now time for sleep and then truck. 74 fabric cartons, here I come.

This is a placeholder for an inevitably lengthy post about my love affair with iPods and the playlist I remembered/found tonight. For the moment, I am extremely pleased about the new headphones I finally picked up for my iPod(s) and for the progress I'm making on rescuing/requilting my rainbow quilt.

There was also SPAMALOT tonight!! Which was fantastic and hilarious and all manner of positive adjectives. Admittedly, picturing Bradley James's Arthur traipsing around in that maddness was even more amusing to me (complete with ignored manservant!). And my bad bad thoughts about Lancelot really weren't helped by his... solo number. At all. The Lady of the Lake was fantastic though, and the costumes (especially hers) were magnificent.

There may be videos and photos forthcoming from the adventure to Bellingham today (No more Chick-fil-a. Sadface.) and the Skyrim line at GameStop tonight. Which we braved for purposes of picking up Lego Harry Potter. XD

I have two things to babble about before I go to sleep.
1) I started rewatching Weiβ Kreuz tonight, and no amount of knowing how horribly cliche and lame it is can reduce my enjoyment of it. Actually, despite the age of the show, the art and the voice performances are actually quite good. Even the background characters, who aren't big names most of the time. If anyone throws me for a loop it's actually Koyasu, because for some reason that's not how Aya sounds in my head.
After all these years, I still love these characters; love the ridiculous predictable plots; love all of it. People can judge me, I really don't care. XD I'm also importing most of the CDs again, to see if I still like the music as much as I remember. I guess we'll see.

2) It's CD Japan sale time again, and even though I have no money I'm poking through things and making a list for things that I like and might want some day.
-New Kusuda Toshiyuki CD
-Meisa's "One More Drama" CD - First Press, with DVD and poster. ^_^
-Nao-kun's Yumekibo Ressha Limited edition still available.
-Amuro Namie Single "Break It/Get Myself Back"
-Crystal Kay's "Journey" - because I need more of her music.
-Nao-KUN'S "Infinity" album - since I recently realized that I really need more of hi
-As a note that I can't be bothered to research at the moment, I should also look into finishing my collection of HaruDaki manga and Drama CDs, since I think they're all completed now. CDs got up to volume 8 and the manga finished at Volume 14. Since the CDs tended to cover a little more than one volume that means the CDs are probably complete as well. And I could really use more MikiShin in my life lately. As well as MoriMori. ^_^

Other ranty things could include ways in which my computer is freaking me out lately, ways in which work is crazy, and ways in which I am not working on packing or cosplay nearly enough right now, but I'm happy in my escapism so I'll let all that be for the moment.

After finishing Freeter yesterday, I pokes at a few of the other series I had on my hard drive. Random Babble Commences )

And now, a meme:
Using only song names from ONE ARTIST, cleverly answer these questions. Pass it on to 15 people you like (or think will actually do this) and tag me. Try not to repeat a song title. It's harder than you think.

Your Artist: Maaya Sakamoto (I chose her to give myself lots of titles to choose from, and I wonder if I should have chosen someone less prolific. XD)

Since it now appears that it takes me the better part of a week to write a note/LJ post, here's the rundown of the time since I started trying to post this:

And to try to get my brain back to working shape, I'm working on a translation:
(and since I know there are people on my F-list who do this /for a living/, I should note that criticism is very welcome, but I'm mostly just flying by the seat of my pants to try to get back into the habit and because the song really got to me. So this is rough and unfinished in the extreme with a lot of artistic license taken.

Also: HAH! Watch my default LJ icon be appropriate for once!

I got a new (to me) iPod about a month ago, and I've noticed a lot of new music in my rotation lately, so I figured now is as good a time as any to play around with another nice big music meme.

Music Meme

Because apart from a lovely meeting with MTL!Nikki today, I've done no random slacking... and I haven't done an updated version of this meme since 2008.

First off, this is awesome.

Step 1: Put your music player on shuffle.
Step 2: Post the first line (unless the first line reveals the song title) from the first 30 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.
Step 3: Strike through the songs when someone guesses both artist and song title correctly.
Step 4: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is cheating.
Step 5: If you like the game, post your own!

For LJ peeps, this gets /long/ under the cuts. For Facebook peeps, the same applies. :P
Music Meme/Homework under the cut )

While I'm being random, let me do a quick rundown on Yamato Nadeshiko Shichihenge. I watched another 3 episodes of the anime tonight, followed by the premiere episode of the drama.
Additional Babbling on Nabeshin madness in Drama form )

(Also, a few days ago [personal profile] calhale and I randomly played that MASH game that you used to play when you were in like... middle school. Apparently I marry Okiayu-san, live in a time machine (Tardis?) in London. He has a career as a voice actor while I am a successful space marine. We spend fifteen years not having any children before we get divorced. I eventually die peacefully in my sleep, and he is mauled to death by a snow leopard.)

And it keeps getting bigger. Damn money.
I had the realization today that I basically fell out of most of my music fandoms around 2006. And that was a LONG TIME AGO. >.>
This is basically a giant selfish shopping list. I have no intention of buying /all/ of it, but it makes a good reminder to myself of the /way/ too much stuff that I want to own someday. And this is without Myus and other exclusive DVDs (like Maria Magdalena ;_;) that would take more work than a CDJapan search to source and buy. >.>
LONG List of Happiness Ensues )
- Yagyuu's Solo Single must be included on principle.
- As does Faith, the Kite album I somehow forgot about the existence of.
- Owaranai Ai (the second Rikkai Young Kan single)
- Last Songs (I forgot about all my buchou's albums apparently. >.>)
- Churu Uta is also sold out. I feel like a bad person for not owning it.
- Trick, Fake, or Truth is the same situation. ;_; Noooo~

And yes, we did end up watching a pile of Seiyuu events and other things tonight that started me feeling nostalgic and out of touch with my fandoms. And yes that did get a bit rambly and overwhelmed with TeniPuri at the end. Sorry. >.>

Other than that, I've been so quiet online because I've been working tons, playing Pokemon, Assassin's Creed and TWEWY a lot and actually hanging out with people in real life. I've seen more of my family in the last three weeks than in the three months prior to that too, which is awesome, but means less babbling time on my LJ.

Hope everyone is well and has not frozen into popsicles in this crazy winter yet. Happy Holidays to all~!

So... today I worked a 7 hour shift, downed 6 sudafed, spent most of my time at the cut table and... ate two bites of banana bread between 9 am and 7:30 PM. Not smart.
I did cook awesomely tasty corn stew with pork when I got home. (Japan and it's stew and curry roux-based recipies are the sum total of my cooking abilities.) While cooking I cranked up my ipod and got a lovely chain of songs going, including a fair amount of Arashi and some Aoyama Thelma, Amuro Namie and Kanon. I always need to remember that /nothing/ can turn my mood around like ten or twenty minutes in a room where I can sing my lungs out with impunity. Seriously. Try it sometime.

Then, I vegged out for a while with fic, until Jess got home. We cleaned up the apartment quite a bit, which makes me feel ten times better about the state it will be in for the weekend.

Also! Happy Birthdays to: Joe (9/24), Kirihara (9/25), Nikki (from work 9/27)!! We Libras are pretty awesome people, no? ^__^

Entry From Friday Night )

Yesterday was made of pure unadulterated awesome. First there was karaoke with me, [profile] ladyofthegate, [profile] starlit_dragon, [profile] xrqz3728, [personal profile] baranoneko and newbie [personal profile] calhale. Dr. D (Chris) showed up right at the end of karaoke, but then there was dinner and Star Trek with [profile] mocny. In short I saw most of my favorite people in the whole world yesterday. Notably missing were [profile] ashitara (due to finals) and [profile] felessan, other Matt and [profile] laisha (due to out-of-state-ness) but overall, an awesome awesome day.

But today... today I can't stop thinking about a song.

Today was a good day at work, all things considered. Got a lot done, and we're ahead for the week. Once home, I was ridiculously irresponsible and went out and bought a new iPod after dinner. I'm not sure what inspired me to decide that today was the day to do this... but... it's done now. He's a 16-gig purple 4th-gen Nano and his name is Eishirou. Yes. What?

I did have a fit of guilt when I got home. Iroh has been good to me. I thought about getting him for a long time, and I hadn't really out-grown him yet... though I was getting there. I'm still not 100% sure how I feel about the 4th-gen design either. It's pretty, but I really liked the compact-ness of the 3rd-gen. I also liked the flat screen and it's ability to have a silicon case and a plexiglass screen-cover. Meh.

Anyway, after getting Eishirou loaded up with songs and things, we headed out to the gym. (It'd been too many days without going again. >.>) And he got his first test... It took me a little while to pick a song to start my warm up and I wasn't totally happy with those two, but the rest of the songs that came up on shuffle? Well... it was a pretty awesome set:

Within my 'On-The-Go Exercise' Playlist )

And now... either some dramas or some sleep, I'm still not entirely decided. I'm off tomorrow and monday, but work the weekend. Which means that I'm free for the weekend of the Midsummer's Revival! Yay!

Nikki tagged me for a music meme and it's been a while so...
I'm doing this with my iPod, so the music sampling is a bit more limited than my full library.
This actually turned out a bit... insightful. )

Now. Sleep.
I only got 3-ish hours last night and truck is at 6 today. Damnit.

[Edit! My appologies for the broken HTML, I usually double check when it's something I've coded myself, but apparently CDJapan send me shoddy code to link over to their L'arc sale. Many appologies for the spam.]

Today I've stumbled into some useful words about costuming and construction that I want to throw into a list for myself. Also.... people in Japan: Is Tokyu Hands some sort of craft store? I thought it was more furniture and clothing... but people are buying all kinds of raw materials for cosplay there.
The site I'm puling these from is this armor tutorial.

Anyway... list )

On an unrelated note: [profile] ladyofthegate has been getting into L'arc-en-ciel lately, so she might want to see this.
