Playlists FTW

This is a placeholder for an inevitably lengthy post about my love affair with iPods and the playlist I remembered/found tonight. For the moment, I am extremely pleased about the new headphones I finally picked up for my iPod(s) and for the progress I'm making on rescuing/requilting my rainbow quilt.
Poking at my iPod to pick songs tonight, I saw a playlist that I put together back in April called "Innovation". I name all my playlists with interesting words, and this one was named due to it being all (or mostly) English-language music rather than my historically more common Japanese fare.
I started with Taylor Swift's "Fearless":
This is a song that never fails to make me smile and also want to cry just a little. It's such a sweet song about life and love and the exhilaration of feeling strong. It's something I love feeling, and the song just presses all my buttons. If the drama or anime existed for the story she's telling, I would watch it.
The playlist also has both versions (Glee and Zutons) of "Valerie":
I had heard the song in Lego Rockband first, and it was one of the ones I liked enough to put on my bands album sets. Then there was Santana and the epic epic Sectionals set from season 2 of Glee... which is easily one of my favorite songs in all of Glee. Certainly in my top 5 New Directions songs. (See how I dodge the Warbler conundrum?) The Zutons' version is fun to sing and actually playable on bass in RockBand, but Santana's version just... makes me want to dance. It was one of the great numbers in the Movie too and just... yah. I <3 it. And I use that "<3" quite seriously. :P
There are fun things on the list too, like some selected TLC and Spice Girls from my Middle School days.
A lot of the songs on the list are from the various ficmixes from "Running Away" - the Arashi Roadtrip AU. These mixes arguably set me on the road back to English music even back before Glee beat me over the head and dragged me back to pop music. Some of the songs I've known forever ("Drive"), others were new to me and just stuck ("You're the Storm").
This also gives me the excuse to rant about RockBand 3 and how amazingly good a lot of the songs in it are.
To be continued and elaborated upon after sleep I hope...
There was also SPAMALOT tonight!! Which was fantastic and hilarious and all manner of positive adjectives. Admittedly, picturing Bradley James's Arthur traipsing around in that maddness was even more amusing to me (complete with ignored manservant!). And my bad bad thoughts about Lancelot really weren't helped by his... solo number. At all. The Lady of the Lake was fantastic though, and the costumes (especially hers) were magnificent.
There may be videos and photos forthcoming from the adventure to Bellingham today (No more Chick-fil-a. Sadface.) and the Skyrim line at GameStop tonight. Which we braved for purposes of picking up Lego Harry Potter. XD
