RenFest, Music and Shinies

setraI've been missing my iPod /hardcore/ for days. The worst part? It was /Aiba's/ Dream 'A' Live Solo song that I was craving. Though I'm not lying when I say that sitting down at my computer and hearing "Take Me Far Away" again after even a few days almost made me cry with relief and joy. See... I don't do well without my music. I've always known this, but I sometimes forget what a /huge/ difference it makes.
Unfortunately, today was.... expensive. I spent a lot more than I should have and am consequently not in a position to be purchasing a new iPod for a while at least.
Still, today was a glorious and beautiful day. Colorado didn't even rain on us, and the sun was pleasantly obscured by light cloud cover most of the day.
Today I obtained
-a blouse from The Frock Shop - plain cream gauze, but it looked /so/ good with my bodice and skirt. I'm really pleased with the overall effect. (Picture forthcoming?)
-a ring. V-shaped double band that rests right at the knuckle of my right ring finger. 14k gold band, natural sapphire stone. Finally the proper metal-stone combination for Vilya. It didn't occur to me until later that it's also my birthstone.
-A gorgeous circle braid around the back of my head - I'm not /as/ pleased with this year's style as last year's, but Jess says it looks awesome. The green and gold roses looked really nice with the colors of the bodice.
-a lovely full-circle feathered head piece in pheasant feathers with green and purple highlights.
-a new pair of earrings from The Rogue's Gallery - green gems on a gold center with feather charms at the ends
-a silver medallion (I get one of these each year, using the symbols to sort of place where I am and what I want to strive for in the next year. This year's is my first silver! I wasn't sure, but when I saw the owl with the full moon and two crescents above it, I knew I had to. So I now have a very Illoran pendant. Aura's owl on one side, and the Chatres Labyrinth (a very personal symbol for me of meditation and looking inside) on the other. I'm quite pleased with it, though I'll need some silver cloth to keep it polished. It will also work well if I even end up with a Skalan garb set, which I'd really like to.
It was a bit of a religious day for me (RenFaire time tends to be for me) - with both the new thoughts of Aura/Illior and the older influences of wind and air. I'm looking forward to a more centered focused year... trying to /think/ about the flow of life rather than letting it drag me along.
Also made me want to get some things cleaned up and unpacked - specifically alter stuff. A few candles and having my jewelry and staff back from where ever they disappeared to would be /really/ nice. ^_^
