My back-up alarm to remind me when RajiPuri is about to go off-line saved me this week and I remembered to listen on the way home.

As an early birthday present, RajiPuri gave me the best possible episode. I already got Okiayu-san hosting for the whole month, but if I got one more hope it was for Kite's voice actor to be a guest... and I got it! Plus my second favorite person in the world, Mikagawa Junko.
So this week we have Okiayu-san, Minagawa-san, Shingaki-san

Until another year from now when I blog again.... DOT NET~!

I've been reading The Dispossession of Echizen Ryoma.
First, I am sad that it is only available on the Pit of Vipers and not the AO3, but c'est la vie.
Second, I am thrilled that there is great TenniPuri fic out there that I can still enjoy.
Third, it breaks my heart that the story is actually believable, and in some ways a much better story for character development than the actual canon has been.

In summary:
"Not you, though, right Buchou? Can't be getting careless." Ryoma commented with a slight smirk.
"Mada mada dane," Tezuka replied with a completely straight face.

I feel like this exchange could only be written by someone who knows English and Japanese and who totally knows these characters and this show. And god, it just makes me smile. ^_^

Especially fannish things.

So, I just managed to pay enough attention to realize that:

1) It's Sho's birthday and therefore Aquarius season and therefore nearly [personal profile] baranoneko's birthday as well as my fathers and Benkei's.

2) TeniPuri Festa 2011 just completed! (there are fun pics available on [profile] shinkata_san) They had some great cast this year, including all Seigaju (duh), all of Rikkai (Nao-kun!), all most of the important bits of Hyoutei, and all the important bits of Higa. Plus random Kishio Daisuke and Tosshi! A DVD I will certainly be wishing I could afford to import. Ugh but I hate the exchange rate right now.

3) My fandom shifts have been a bit ridiculous since I started my podfic addiction. Probably because my two most hardcore fandoms before the podfic addiction have one and zero recorded stories respectively. Boo. On the other hand, I have fallen in /love/ with certain of Katie Forsythe's work and with that particular fandom in both new and old incarnations.

4) I am now TWO FULL ALBUMS behind on my Sakamoto Maaya collection. I may be trying to rectify this in the near future. I'm so excited that she hit number one on the Oricon weekly sales, I'll feel remiss if I don't attempt to contribute to a good second week showing.

Hello 2011, here's hoping you bring me more focus and attention for the things I love. (Also, a bit more money would be nice.)

I may or may not have spent the last three hours in photoshop working on a texture and gradient set for damnned Shitenhouji jersies. Now to test to see how the Yudu handles it and then start the epic search for a yellow knit that Jess and I can actually agree on.

For anyone wondering what I'm going on about...
Take a look at this team's uniforms. See that lovely leafy green texture pattern? I'm trying to screen print it onto plain fabric. Yes I may have lost my mind.

[profile] ladyofthegate found me a potential Shiraishi wig locally: at Display & Costume. (Which means another chance to visit Pacific fabrics. ^_^ I only wish that their clearance outlet was closer than Seattle. >.>)

Also, there are work things. But I have Friday off and we get to see Chris, so that worry can wait for another day.

It should also be noted that I got my second ear piercing on... monday evening I think. So soon I shall be able to show off more than one set of earrings at once. ^___^

Ten years ago, on a much smaller and more insular internet, I found a website for a little gathering called 'YaoiCon'. I was still two years and a month too young to attend, being only 15 with a birthday coming up in September.

Until now, the only time I've attended the event was in 2005, to see mangaka Higuri You and Kazuma Kodaka. This year is YCon's tenth anniversary. This year I get to go again, to see seiyuu Kiuchi Hidenobu and Okiayu Ryoutarou, as well as the awesome author Lynn Flewelling ([profile] otterdance ).

Since YCon is usually around Halloween, a holiday which I can almost never take off in my industry, this may be the last time I get a chance to attend for a while. Also, Okiayu Ryoutarou. I mean... I would travel almost anywhere in the world to meet this man in person. So. Yeah.

Since it worked pretty well for AO, here's my list of stuff to get done before the con:

Nostalgia

On the way home tonight, the Fuji/Oishi/Echizen version of "Birthday" came up on my iPod. Okiayu-san wasn't even singing, but for some reason, the song felt intensely emotional to me. It makes me physically ache for the high and sense of joy I used to get from TenniPuri. And it makes me almost angry (or maybe just disappointed) at the musicals and craziness that finally burned me out on it a bit. A lot of it was the recession as well, and it's one of the only things that I really feel as a loss in my life due to it... I stopped importing and owning the things that I loved and that made me happy, and therefore fell somewhat out of the swing of a fandom that had given me continuous enjoyment for ...six years now?
Anyway. Melancholy moment at three in the morning.

Costume progress updates on FaceBucket and on my AO Progress Tracker.

Happy Thursday, everyone.

A meme.

But first, a note... there is a new investment on my radar. Because I think I really need to own the S.I.P. Omnibus. It would solve the messy issue of my not owning all the original issues, and prevent me from having to re-invest in either of the other compilation sets (which would actually be more expensive). Also... it sounds /beautiful/.

Anyway. Meme.

Pick 12 characters, fill the blanks and answer the questions, don't peek, etc.

1) Yagyuu
2) Yuushi
3) Niou
4) Shiraishi
5) Yanagi
6) Yukimura
7) Marui
8) Mimi (femme-Jackal)
9) Taki
10) Masako (femme-Niou)
11) Atobe
12) Hitomi (femme-Yagyuu)

Because Anime Birthdays went down and I just spent /quite/ a while typing this all up, have all the birthdays (by star-sign) that I have found from Prince of Tennis:

And it keeps getting bigger. Damn money.
I had the realization today that I basically fell out of most of my music fandoms around 2006. And that was a LONG TIME AGO. >.>
This is basically a giant selfish shopping list. I have no intention of buying /all/ of it, but it makes a good reminder to myself of the /way/ too much stuff that I want to own someday. And this is without Myus and other exclusive DVDs (like Maria Magdalena ;_;) that would take more work than a CDJapan search to source and buy. >.>
LONG List of Happiness Ensues )
- Yagyuu's Solo Single must be included on principle.
- As does Faith, the Kite album I somehow forgot about the existence of.
- Owaranai Ai (the second Rikkai Young Kan single)
- Last Songs (I forgot about all my buchou's albums apparently. >.>)
- Churu Uta is also sold out. I feel like a bad person for not owning it.
- Trick, Fake, or Truth is the same situation. ;_; Noooo~

And yes, we did end up watching a pile of Seiyuu events and other things tonight that started me feeling nostalgic and out of touch with my fandoms. And yes that did get a bit rambly and overwhelmed with TeniPuri at the end. Sorry. >.>

Other than that, I've been so quiet online because I've been working tons, playing Pokemon, Assassin's Creed and TWEWY a lot and actually hanging out with people in real life. I've seen more of my family in the last three weeks than in the three months prior to that too, which is awesome, but means less babbling time on my LJ.

Hope everyone is well and has not frozen into popsicles in this crazy winter yet. Happy Holidays to all~!

Yanagi Renji.
For my own future reference:

Fav. Classes:古典、国語、世界史 - classic literature, japanese language, world history

Other Skills (Besides teh tennis):
暗算 mental arithmatic
俳句 Haiku
純文学 'pure' literature
茶道、囲碁、将棋 (tea ceremony, go, shogi)

His hobby is reading/writing, again 'pure' literature.

Ideal date spot is the 文学資料館 or museum of literature.

In other words. Yes. He is that dorky and that old.

Also, he reads an average of 600 books PER YEAR. That's nearly 2 per DAY. ;_;
Why? No. Seriously. WHY?

There will be new TeniPuri games. For the DS. "Doubles no Oujisama" 'Girls, Be Grecious' (with female PC) and 'Boys, Be Glorious' (with male PC).
I need want Girls-side for Tezuka and Kura. I want Boys-side for Fuji and Sanada. But what I really want to know is: WHERE IS THE HIGA!? (Also, why no Zaizen, Konami? What did the punk ever do to you?).
The game seems to be about a 'street doubles tournament'. You get to play doubles with your chosen partner and you control the flow of the tennis by gaining the catchphrases (and moves) of other characters. Anyway... they're on my list now. And if I happen to stumble across a million dollars, I may try to get both just so I can have the super-special talk CD with Ryoma plus BUCHOU(s) (Including Kite, so WTH Konami?). (Even though you get the CD by mail order and I am not in Japan. ;_; So sad.)
Prior to purchasing either of those though, I really really want Haruka 3 plus Izayoiki for PSP. It's cheaper on Amazon.jp, but they won't ship it to me in America. Because they're jerks.

Unfortunately both fall a sad second place to my screen printer. Which I get to order on monday, I think. So excited. Oh yes. I may end up running my own IST that same day just so that I can pick it up and pay at my store. We'll see.

So... this will be a very babble-ful con report, but feel free to read on if you want.
Nan Desu Kan 2008 )

Now we're home and actually considering certain costumes that I swore I'd never be involved with. Seriously. I mean it. I'm looking into friendly plastic and wonderflex and ... dear sweet lord, what have I started?
It's been a really really long time since I got home from a con still going 'OMG, I want to sew!' I want to sew NOW! And not curtains, which is my next project.

[Note to self - need appropriate Saitoh and Saitoh are SRS Business - icon.]

I don't have time. I should be asleep.

But...
1) Shiny Happy All-Fandom Meme of Ultimate Sparkle Go, be happy. Share the sparkle and make others happy. It's awesome.

2) DramaPuri!? I'm sure it's my innate and automatic ignorance of China that caused me to miss this until... which does not mean that I won't be watching it now. I mean... TeniPuri in /college/ like it should have been! :D

Today.

Today is a good day.

We finally found one, and it came home with me today.

So, despite having no intention of buying a lot of things in the near future, I feel the need to search for and list out all the things that I /want/ should my current bit of money succeed in burning a hole through my pocket.

-Best Actors 12 - KiteKiteKite! Even if I don't love Luke that much, I feel obligated.
-Best Actors 11 - I'm not fond of Dai-chan... but he /can/ sing.
-The Higa album - Remember that feeling of obligation to my noble school of purple pirates? Yeah... >.>
-Sanada & Tezuka Single!? - I have no idea how to feel about this, but if it involves Okiayu-san, I may end up getting it anyway.
-New Akaya Single! - I don't know that I'll buy it, but I'm excited anyway. Morikubo-san has such a good voice. ^^
-DL5 Soundtrack - The fact that it releases on the same day as Higa's album has nothing to do with my desire to put in an advance order for the both of them. Really.
-Yoru no Chirarizumu Vol.4 - There are CDS! And Okiayu is a guest on this one... >.>
-Kurenai no Tsuki Vocal Collection - ;_; I want. I want a Neoroma CD for the first time in a /long/ time... but I really shouldn't buy it.

Also! Anyone in the FC area need stuff from CDJapan? I'm ordering 100-Song Marathon and i'd love to split shipping with someone.... [profile] ashitara? any further thoughts about the Time con?
setra: (Default)
For my own personal reference:
I NEED THIS - 100 Song Marathon DVD. First press preferred, but I can't order until after Fanime.

TeniPuri Full Best - 8-Disc Set of all the songs performed at 100 Song Marathon.
Higa Album!? - CDJapan has no helpful details as of yet but.... *wibbles* ALBUM!?
Dear Prince Single - yeah, it came out without me noticing. I want it someday.
Also new Character singles for Sanada and Renji.
New Single - Chouatrou gets a solo song? Wow. GO Hyoutei.

Also, please not to be forgetting the Time -Kotoba no Chikara- DVD. Which is necessary to my continued existence as a healthy productive fangirl.

In trying to keep background noise up while sewing, I was poking at YouTube.
First: Kichiku Magane: Yagyuu Version I am so entertained.
Second: So... what was that you said about 'Vikings'? HigaMyu clip It burns... no really... I think I'm with [Bad username or unknown identity: giving ground] when she said it killed her. ALSO, Kite and Rin with SWORDS! What!?

Anyway... I think a concert or Myu on the TV would be more conducive to sewing, so I'm going back to that now. Really.
setra: (Default)
I actually read and caught up on the end of PoT. More annoyed now than I was without having seen it all. I want to kick Nanjirou in the face, and to quote Yukimura "Don't give me that shit".

The wind was keeping me awake all night so...
More of that show I don't watch )

It only happens once every four years, so I'd better not forget to say:
Happy Birthday Fuji Syuusuke~!

I said yesterday that I /wouldn't/ give him a kick in the head. That /could/ be a present. I also thought about him today and tried to think of a way to make him happy. Being a pices though, he makes that different. So I'll settle for hugging a plushie and listening to his new single. Yep.
Happy Birthday Syuusuke, you crazy psycho stalker photographer. I love you.
