When Maya burns time on the internet, randomness results:

WANT TO GO TO THIS: http://www.springawakening.com/tickets-and-tour-schedule (Tacoma hopefully... I need to study a map and my days off...)

Also upcoming events for me:

I think this means that I really need to stop quilting and clean up my sewing area to get going on costumes. Ack.

In order to understand this post, you must know some basic information:
1) I adore Japanese-style karaoke. Lock me in a box with a good song selection for five or six hours, you will never have seen me so happy.
2) 75+% of the music I listen to and know how to sing is Japanese pop or anime music. This has been true since high school and is not likely to change.
3) Most (and they are limited) box-style karaoke places in the US that have Japanese songs, are running on Korean machines that are limited to old-style discs or monthly updates and have a limited song selection.
4) Importing the quality machines that they have in Japan (which I have researched and considered) can easily cost in the thousands of dollars - and may still require a complicated subscription to update the songs on the machine. These are meant for businesses, not personal use.

And now you can see why the the following information kept me up for an hour past my nominal bedtime tonight:

HyperJoy/Joysound has a Wii game.
This is extremely exciting to me. )

Jess? Kat? How do you feel about some sort of team effort to make one of our apartments the awesome-est place in Seattle?
(In any case I think I sense a present to myself on the way come this Christmas.)

Or are all the cons this year.... kinda weak on the Japanese guest front?
This obviously excludes Sakura-con, which has two fairly big-name male seiyuu and a pile of bands.
Of all the others... I think m.o.v.e. being at A-cen is the most impressive guest announcement that I've actually seen so far.
Fanime... not great. AX? Blah. Otakon - virtually no info. Y-con has no guests as of yet... but at this point, Lynn might actually be the awesomest person to go to a convention to see this year.

All the more reason to save my money and be responsible, I guess. You never know what will get announced with the next TeniMyu and with certain significant events in November. >.>

And no, I'm not asleep yet.
And no, I'm not sure why.
I guess I should work on that. >.>

Finally: Local peoples! Karaoke this saturday afternoon at DJs, call me for details!

Despite being very very tired, we all made it to the airport in plenty of time and I'm home safe and sound. I think lazing about on my couch for a little while sounds good so... con report time~!

Anime Detour 2009 )

I think that may be the first time I've actually written up a full con report in years.

Also, to get the ideas out of my head before I lose them...
How to Run Karaoke 101 )

Now... I think I'm going to start on Tomomori. Or possibly first on the screen design for Kiyomori. Since my legs are still really really sore today. :3
I hope everyone had a great con. And that the few new people I've friended don't think that I'm too nuts. ^_^

Bleh.

Today started a bit unpleasantly at 8 am when I woke up due to the extreme pain and utter lack of blood flow in my right arm. I checked a clock, rolled over and went back to sleep. I was awakened again at ll due to the same problem recurring in my left arm. This did mean that I made myself some lunch, packed another bit of the carnitas and dressings up for my dinner at work and had some time to read Hidden Warrior before I headed in to work (on time!).

Work this week is not a part of Maya's happy place )

Be ready to be leaving town just after 1 pm tomorrow. Karaoke will be from 3-6-ish and then there will be dinner and revelry at [profile] xrqz2493's place.

Tomorrow before we head for Denver I think I need to take Damien in to Best Buy. The hinge on his screen is broken and we all know where that's heading. Well... I do, having had a computer with a broken screen hinge before. -.-

[Edit: Midnight: *flails* I commented on Okiayu-san's blog for yesterday. To tell him to enjoy his trip (he's in Kyuushu!) andto say 'otsukaresama' about 100-song marathon. Now I'm flaily and nervous for no good reason.]
