8 more flowers painted today. 4 of them have gold outlining now.
That's both sleeves and both front panels done, leaving me only the body. -.-;; Have been putting off the body since it is /huge/.
Still, they're looking pretty good.

Today we also:
-got fabric for Tomomori's Izayoiki pants
-got some swatches for Kiyomori and Shigehira.
-printed out some pictures at Walmart
-(I found out where Julie/Kairi works!)
-ordered frosted blonde wigs for Tomomori and Shigehira
-ordered boots for Tomomori from Life of the Party
-got experimental materials for Tomomori's armor
-watched the Maihitoyo stage play. (Actually quite good! Am very much looking forward to the new one!)

Now for sleepy times. My eyes are tired and my back is all tence again.

4時間ぐらいかかったと思う。実は、音楽聴きながら描いたのでよくわからないんだ。
何で日本語で説明しているのかも分からないんだ。
とにかく、今日はここまでできたんだ。。。
One last Masaomi progress pic for the night )

Tonight I found clips from the olden days, when Sho was tiny, Koichi and Tsuyoshi were still pretty and Gackt told awesome scary stories. All in the same show! Domoto Kyoudai 1 2 3. They also perform Jidai, just Sho, Aiba and Nino, plus the Domoto Kyoudai, since Leader was off doing stuff and Jun is a workaholic.

Also, I've been getting tagged by a SalmonBot recently. Anyone else?

Today was special. And by special I mean that I went home about 2 hours after arriving. We needed to cut hours. Big time. Which we knew... but having the DTL bite my head off about it wasn't exactly the way I wanted to be reminded of it. I guess that's the downside of being an OTL that, y'know... isn't.

So, I went back in after going home and got Masaomi's kimono and lining cut out. I haven't started assembly yet, but I did do some test swatches for the flowers that I get to paint on it.
I took a couple pictures )

My job was too easy today.
Truck was done by 8 and fabric was almost entirely done by 2 pm. Seriously?
The district is made of crazy though. And Friday will be lame no matter what DTL does.

I spent the day thinking about Masaomi. I even made it out to the Mill and picked up some lining material for the bolero.
At home, [profile] ladyofthegate had decided to make herself crazy by thinking about Tomomori's armor again. We have some new thoughts and will be trying different techniques than expected. Of course, having been out by the Mill, I brought [profile] nonny_chan back with me and in a stroke of divine (or not so) inspiration, we decided that she would be a fabulous Kiyomori. So, after a lot of plotting and book examination, we went off to kinko's to make some additional reference copies and get a reference folder started for Kiyomori.
Even if he's not done for this year NDK, there's always the year that we have full armor for Tomomori and Masaomi. I think I can handle all three though. Especially is I succeed in my goal of getting Masaomi done by the end of February.
I could proceed to do some babbling about 夢浮橋 Special and Shigehira (I bought the PERFECT color and texture for his pants before there even /was/ a canon reference picture!) and Kiyomori and all the various things that my head is full of. But I'm really rather tired and still need to pack a bentou for tomorrow. So. Away from the internets I go.

Today's survival brought to you by "Higher and Higher, "Type wa D" and "Hip Pop Boogie".

Or rather, a wig equation... it goes like this...

some illustrative images under the cut )

Anyway, tomorrow will hopefully be a day of working on kimono with a possible break to shop for boots, purple stuff and muslin to pattern pants and jacket. I'd like to get his black shirt done this weekend as well. We'll see.

So, despite having all the fabric in the world for Masaomi (both costumes)... I've been working on his wig for about a week now.
I was inspired by a cosmode magazine that I picked up last summer to think about combining wigs to make styles/color combinations that aren't available. Masaomi turned out to be the perfect opportunity.
I started with a fun flip (blue) and a Rod (blue). The fun flip isn't /as/ bad as it looks in the cosworx picture, but it's perfect for Atobe or Eiji and NOT for Masaomi. Hence the Rod. After planning and agonizing a bit, I started cutting wefts out of the rod. A 'weft' is a chunk of hair on a single strand of the wig... it makes sense once you start doing it.

This technique will hopefully continue to be usefull. Especially considering that Tomomori and Shigehira/Shirogane will probably both need eartails added to their wigs. -_-;;

I'm hoping to pry myself out of bed Saturday morning in time to go into work before open and lay out Masaomi's red kimono and lining for cutting. I might also do it tomorrow at/after close. We'll see how motivated I am.

I'm starting to think of Detour as something that I'm aiming for. Which is a nice thought. I should really just suck it up and register... that would hopefully scare me into behaving and saving up a little money.

I slept 14 hours this morning... until almost 3 pm.
I spent most of the day after that lazing about reading fic.
Except for the part where I kept working on Masaomi's wig.. only to then find out that it doesn't fit me. >.> It has Shimon-syndrome (meaning too small of a distance across the top of the head). Luckily, I think I can continue using bits of the Rod and make it work... I hope. Sewing wefts into wigs is possibly one of the most annoying things I've ever done for a costume. It looks great though. Assuming it fits my head someday.

I also took a Harry Potter house quiz. I rather liked it and feel content with the results.

Also, on an unrelated note, I stumbled upon this blog entry, featuring The most beautiful Hiiragi EVER. Guh. Don't want to cosplay 4 yet, I haven't done everyone in 3 yet. >.>

But /someone/ distracted me.

You know what, Masaomi?
You just keep being difficult.
Just keep it up and I'll give up on finding out what flower you ACTUALLY have on your damn kimono and you'll just end up with DAISIES! Or roses!
That'll serve you right.
So there.
Irritating jerk.

On the plus side, I did figure out how he wears the damn thing (it /is/ a kimono and not a noshi-type). *grumble*SlackerNotAProperHeike*grumble*

[Edit for Cosplayer Image Explosion: At least mine will not look like this. May not be as cool as these though. I'm a little jealous of the armoring stuff on this one, but again... the kimono around his hips? Hello?
Also, for reference: Tomomori shirt?. And speaking of my favorite Taira general... I have brocade jealousy - especially this girl's. (I secretly think ours will come out beautifully, but I have to whine.) We are not the first to have had the Shigehira idea. Also, look! Another Saku!]

In conclusion, not enough people cosplay Masaomi. Fewer really get even /most/ of his details right. (This one's my favorite.Yet so many of them have better wigs than I do. ;_; You make me sad Japan.

NOW... sleep. >.> I am so never allowed on the internet again.
