setraI've been downloading Spiral. In batches of five episodes from Soldats. (My second favorite fansubber, ever) They're nearly gigabyte collections of files, but bittorrent makes that about a 24-hour download.
Anyway, I re-watched 1-3 tonight while working on my paper. Watching 4 right now.
Firstly the primary symbols seem to be the spiral (obvious) and the iris of the Blade Children. I'm not sure what either of them mean, but I can't help linking the iris (ayame no hana) to my Ayame and the images I associate with iris. They seem to fit, oddly enough.
The logic puzzles amaze me. Ayumu's ability to use logic in the face of anything... it just blows me away. There are no characters in this show that I don't like. Ayumu is amazing, and I like him even though I don't usually like main characters. His sister is strong and good at what she does. Hiyono has the strength and courage to do foolish things that Ayumu would debate over for too long. Kousuke has control, as does Eyes.
I want to meet the other Blade Children. Especially the one that's all subtexty with Eyes in the closing. But that's just me. Last time I watched it, 4 froze right where you meet Kousuuke. I really like him now that I've met him. Not as spiffy as Eyes, but cool anyway - in a different way. Devious. That's the word. Yet all the Blade Children have this desperation about them. They need Ayumu, and in that they are so much more complex than one might expect anime villains to be. Then again, in a show with 'reasoning' in the title, that's only to be expected, isn't it. ^_^
Episode 5 begins - And there's another one, maybe two of the Blade Children.... I think. And the subtexty one, just like I wanted... tabun. And the voice cast just keeps getting better. I think that's Okiayu Ryotarou or Onosaka Masaya as the teacher... the one that you always want to think is almost Koyasu, but not.
Ok. That's way to many LJ entries for one day. And I still have to get up for class in the morning too.
