Work... again...

Went in at 5. Walked off fabric with Val and decided to do it.
'It' being rotating all the front fabric aisles 90 degrees to make them run parallel to the windows and most all the other aisles in the store.
A normal store would whine and moan and ask for tons of help from other stores and extra hours from Donna... But seeing as tonight they were stripping and rewaxing the floor anyway... I just thought it was a good time to do it. We only get a full strip and wax once a year and there weren't any other major moves to be done this time. Anyway... because of the move and getting all the fabric back in place, we were on the green carpet most of the night.
Around 4 we were heading upstairs to grab drinks and such before they waxed us into the carpeted area.... when the floor guy called us back down to the front door.
There was... a problem.
In that the power company was outside with three trucks and eight guys and needed to turn off the power to the building. Pretty much now. They said that they'd arranged it with Val weeks in advance and talked to her yesterday and... yeah. So... instead of finishing fabric and getting those extra 2-3 coats of wax on the floor, we packed up as fast as we could and booked it out of there.
I'm home now staring at the computer and planning to sleep on the couch in hopes that Jess moving around at 6:30-7 will wake me up so I can go back in and stave off the heart attack that Val will have when she sees how much crap is still not in the right place.
We move a /ton/ of fixtures around for these overnights and it usually takes two of us an hour or more after the wax is dry to shift it all back.
Now not only do they/we have to do that shifting in the morning, but I also have to finish fabric (likely another one or two hours) and the floor is less well-protected than it should be /and/ we have to move all this stuff /again/ when Dennis comes back to do the floors later in the month so that he can put down the rest of the wax.
I also have to call US Maint. and try to explain why the service isn't complete but will be, probably, someday. >.>


Long story short: I'm tired and displeased.

[ETA: 12 PM. Home again, what a 'day off'. Fabric move done. Signs made but not put up. Only took 4 hours, hopefully I can stock fabric tomorrow. Now for napping and listening to Rinrin's song. I &hearts my 100-song marathon playlist.]
