My mood took an abrupt turn for the worse this evening. I'm sure my body is trying to tell me something about sickness and sleep and skipping breaks, but I'm going to go ahead and blame it on rayon thread.

See... there's this coat. This coat as a matter of fact. You can't see most of the detail in that. I should scan/post my detailed sketches. In trying to save a few pennies, I happened to pick up a different kind of thread for this project. It was Madeira polyneon machine embroidery thread, and it worked wonderfully. Only then I'd gone through a whole spool on the back alone... and there was no more. At all. In the entire state, possibly the world. At least, not in the small personal-size that I need it in. So I figured, hey, I have this all worked out now, switching over to Gutterman or Sulky rayon should be cake. Right? Wrong.
Gutterman spools are too small and the wobble of the spool combined with the kinkiness of the thread leads to uneven stiches and frequent tangles just above the tension discs. Sulky... just sucks. It breaks frequently and with a vengence, with no apparent cause or pattern. It also refuses to keep tension, where the madeira was doing just fine.
Anyway. I have more or less given up at this point and am going to pick up an external top-feed spool holder to set behind my machine and go ahead and order the 1000-meter industrial size of the polyneon. I am so annoyed.

Jess has been doing a masterful job of putting up with my bullshit about this thread and this costume, which I appreciate a lot. I know I'm a pain to deal with when I freak out about this stuff.

I was in a cleaning mood today, it seems. Recovery at work actually seemed /fun/. Despite everything that's bad right now, I felt ok about things today. Got to talk to Em a little about HD too, which was a relief. And Val got everything set up back in the new sections. The RT looks lovely now. Before work, I got my room actually half-way presentable (only half) and then went on a cleaning spree of my sewing area tonight when I got too annoyed with Kagetoki. I have to vacuum once it's not the middle of the night. I also have a list now of a dozen or more things to keep me busy tomorrow. I like lists. Now if only I started accomplishing some things on them.

I had a bunch of other stuff to whine and babble about, but now I'm actually tired enough to sleep... so maybe I'll do that.
