I should know better than to 'test' at 3 am whether or not I can screencap from Real Player.
I can.
I ended up watching the DD-boys special footage in an attempt to get more good images for my icon which may never be made.
So now, rather than sleep for an hour before work, I'm thinking I'll actually try to watch PuriPuri D. I know... I'm out of my mind, but it keeps me form worrying about innocent!Yagyuu and emo!Niou.

So... when I look at the manga profiles, and look at the still photos... I think the show had potential. The fault lies in the directing (because I think in the beginning, Takumi was actually trying... as were some of the others). And, sadly, in the costuming, which didn't put enough focus on makeup and hair to make the boys look as good as they could have.
The pacing is all wrong. When things should be funny, they fall flat... when things should be beautiful, they don't quite fit. It's really sad actually.
Episode 2
Enter the boy who was the snappy bitch, who is now my beloved Yuuichi.
And excruciatingly long bathroom sequences... and other foolishness.
So much wasted pretty... like Kenta's shower scene.
Manga-style scene planning and timing requires a lot of skill to get to work in live action... and there is absolutely no effort put in here. ;_;
Episode 3
In which Yuuichi looks gorgeous in a dress and they waste KenKen's singing talents by pretending that he can't.
Episode 4
More showers. And Takumi being very very pretty. All the time. And I get the sense that he revels in the character when he gets to just play... either that or he's suffering terribly... probably the later.
[EDIT:]Episode 5
In which Kenta and Yuuichi attempt to act, or atleast to bond. And succeed pretty well once the director stops forcing them into subtext-heavy situations... nothing much else happens.

All that was before 45 minutes of sleep (during episode 5), 4.5 hours of work and doing my taxes at the last minute. Now I'm off to... um... think about attempting to nap before Japanese with [profile] ashitara.
