Cosplay and Fluff
May. 9th, 2004 10:10 pmToday rocked. We went to a cosplay event in Shin-Osaka ("Cosplay Dream Festival"), which was wonderful. I got to prance around in Hokuto, and Kat and I practiced poses. We took lots of photos of other Cosplayers too. It was really surreal to walk in after waiting 1.5 hours, be the first into a curtained-off changing room (just one large room for 20-30 girls at a time to change in), and slip easily into the wig and the costume. They were playing ParaPara MAX music, the entire time. *bounces* We wandered most of the time, people either didn't recognize us, or seemed scared to try talking to the gaijin. Still, more pictures got taken of us in four hours than I got in a whole day at Fanime. ^_^ At the end, Hiroki's friend let me play with a gun! *silly giggle* And they gave Kat a sword!
We also chatted with some KinIro cosplayers (Tsukimori-kun~~~~! *glomp*) - who were happy that we recognized them - and with a really nice girl named Setsuki (who was cosplaying from King of Fighters) at the very end (her website).
We left a little more than halfway through the event, but that made the day much more relaxed. Leaving was even more surreal than arriving. In one moment we went from a world of anime and cosplayers, photos and poses to the grey of an overcast sky. From a constant press of sound and bodies to broad empty streets in the calm after the rain. By the time we were a block away, it felt like days had passed.
We walked back to Shin-Osaka-eki and headed home without hitting an Animate or Mandarake. From Hirakata-shi we hunted through 100-yen shops and then walked over to Tsutaya/BookOff. I got 4 more CDs. For 7.5 yen each (after a 50-yen gift certificate ^_^). I think I'll open a jpop music Library when I get home. ^_^
In other news: "Sugar&Spice" finished thier Cosmic Fantasy Uranus and Neptune. They're gorgeous! Link to Photos (originally linked from

Ok. No more rantage for me. I better finish up my internet poking about and get to bed at a reasonable hour.
Current Bishounen: Kanzaki Hiroto (KinIro) [because I can't choose from the dozens of others]
