On Food and Bentou
Jan. 19th, 2009 10:23 pmThose close to me might know that I bought a very small Zojirushi Bentou set with some of my christmas money.
Since I got it, I've packed three lunches in it and eaten two of them.
So far I'm not having any trouble at all with the portion size. I eat fast when I eat at work, and what I'm packing has been more than enough to keep me going through my whole day. This is doubly impressive when you know how hard I work.
I'm usually taking a bottle of tea to work with these (my current favorites are Snapple Asian Pear Green or Itoen Teas' Tea Peach), which doesn't fit in my tiny bentou, but that's ok. ^_^
I'm going to try to keep notes for myself, so that when I inevitably get bored, I'll have some inspiration to try different things or things that I liked.
First Bentou
Large Container - Rice. Pre-steamed from dinner the night before.
First Side - Gyoza (3) Also from dinner the night before, they actually kept really well, and I didn't mind not having sauce.
Second Side - Small piece of leftover pecan pie from Whole Foods. /Way/ tasty.
Second Bentou (1.19.2009)
Large Container - Rice. Same as above, only I cooked enough in advance and packed it straight into the bentou.
First Side - Sesame chicken, leftovers from Tiger Lily. It was only two and a half bits, but it was plenty.
Second Side - Salad with ham, egg and cheese. I just snagged some from my lunch the day before and packed it. It kept find overnight.
Third Bentou (for 1.20.2009)
Large Container - Tuna helper casserole stuffs. (Only about half as much as was in my half of the leftovers.)
First Side - Sandwich. Two quarters of a small turkey and cheese sandwich fit pretty well in the container. I'll probably eat it for breakfast during truck.
Second Side - Bit of marble bar/cake thing that Jess made.
Now, last post for the night and time for sleepies.
I'm in love with my music again. It's the only thing that keeps me sane. I need to remember that the next time I start getting cranky.
