Four years
Nov. 19th, 2007 05:55 pmAs of today, I've had this journal for four years. Since 19 November 2002.
I was in love with Olivie then. I was also a first year in Japanese.
The next year, I posted seven times. I think that month I averaged 2-3 posts a day. I quoted Spiral, loved Angelique and Apocripha, was playing FieryMUD and still lived with my mother.
In 2004, I didn't post, but there are posts on the surrounding days about TenniPri, Japanese class, Golden Cain, and other various happies. By that point I'd spent my semester abroad at Gaidai.
I missed 2005 as well. I was nearly failing Pac. Wars that Semester, and in the middle of trying to pull paper after paper out of my poor abused brain. I graduated just about a month later though, so that's a success in and of itself. Privately, I was having trouble with my self and my life. Maaya Sakamoto's "Loop" was my song.
Last year, I posted a meme and made no comment on other things. I was working on my second JET application, and working at the store a lot. This will be Thanksgiving number three for me at good old Jo-Ann 1679, and I think this is the best year yet.
Anyway, as a present for my LJ anniversary, I got the day off from work.
Ok, not really. But it lined up that way.
I spent the first bit of the morning (last night's 深夜) playing Diablo and then catching up on Shukudai-kun and GRA.
I slept a lot, which was nice. And then proceeded to continue my re-reading of Hellspark.
I /adore/ this book. I really really do.
It reminds me how much I love linguistics. And how important I think it is to 'dance' the language you're speaking and not just speak it. I think that's always been my issue with my father, at least a little. While he speaks it well enough, and he tries to be aware of the customs, he's too tall to really dance Japanese properly. It's probably the same reason I have trouble with some things at work, like eye contact and answering to authority. At some point, some small part of me switched on a basic level over to Japanese kinesics. This is bad because it means that with that as my default, I don't entirely know how to dance American English anymore. I should work on that.
Anyway, now I have quilting to do and potential Death Note and IstuKimi to watch. Yay for days off.
