I was pretty exhausted and emotional last night. I'm better now, thanks to Jess chatting with me all day, several people linking me to comments about Pippin, and to the new chapter of Cables from Pixxers that I read just before falling asleep last night.
Granted, I still need to be up in three hours for work, but... mah.
Brief Review: I watched the first episode of "M no Higeki" tonight.
I had high hopes for this drama. It's a real drama, not something silly like HanaKimi, and the summary sounded really interesting.
I only made it about 3/4 of the way through episode 1 and I will not be watching more of it. I found the main character - Ando Mamoru - annoying and totally not pitiable, though you're clearly meant to sympathize with him. He's too spineless to actually follow through on what he feels is right, but also too self-righteous to believe that anything could go wrong in his life. He has convinced everyone in his life that he's totally straight-laced and honest, but he lied at the first opportunity /and/ had no idea how to explain himself with any kind of sincerity. That just irritated and frustrated me, and not in a good character-building way. I also didn't see any growth in him. It looked like the plot was going to drag him along and he'd stand up at the end and pretend to have learned something. Something like that. Not terribly interesting. Very wierd.
I /do/ want to know what was going on with Misa, but I don't think I can watch the show for her, because frankly, I didn't like her much either. Her backstory was interesting to me, and some of her attitudes, but they didn't make her any less of a dishonest, terrible person. Yuki was an emotional princess (though not to the level of Michiru from "Oishii Propose"), she reminded me a little of Shigeru from HanaDan... only without the personality.
The setting was very neutral and blah and the surrounding characters felt every bit as shift and dishonest as Ando seemed to be becoming, and the fact that he went along with it made him even less likable.
Mark one Drama off my list of ones to watch. Sad, but true.
Also watched HanaKimi 7 and 8 (yeah, I'm behind).
I want to picspam these actually, because there was some nice-looking Shun in both... and I'm slowly falling for Maki too. >.> And Toma.... oh Toma. <3
Anyway. The character plot seems to be getting more interesting... I adored the moments between Umeda and Io. I love that Io gets in Mizuki's face and makes her deal with her emotions. Akiha is wierd and I don't know what to think about her. I adore Umeda's constant aversion to even the most minimal contact with her. It's sweet. Or something.
Sano trying to take care of and protect Mizuki was adorable, especially in episode 8. :P And Nakatsu's challenge to him at the end. I'm proud of him for being so content with being gay now... even though he isn't.
Note: by this point Nanba and Umeda are suddenly hot. When did that happen? How? And why is Kagurazaka gay for Sano? Ah, the mysteries of the universe.
I'm kind of planning to try mini-picspams for Hanakimi and deffinitely for "Odoroki no Arashi! 3"... because goya-cucumbers, ramen in space, and three of Japan's top idols sinking into a river on a boat made of leaves... /that/ just requires fangirling. :P I'm not mentioning Aibaka's invisible man experiment. Not even. ^^;;
And now, sleep. Oyasumi~!
