I was going to write a post about how a shift from 10-4:30 became a shift from 12-9... and how very very tired I am. But [profile] jenshin asked in one of her emails to describe what I saw as 'my japan'.. because everyone has thier own. So I thought I'd post mine here for anyone who's interested. And I'd like to pose the question to others who've been there as a sort of meme.

What makes you happy about Japan? What memories are quintessesntial to you as being /in/ Japan?
Reply in comments or in your own journals. Or just enjoy the memories. I know I did. ^_^

My Japan is so many things. Most of which are from my time at Gaidai.

My Japan is running through the mist and rain across Rainbow Bridge and laughing because three of us running single file reminds me of FF8. My Japan is dodging umbrellas and salarymen in raincoats to get to from the ATM back to the Pacifico Yokohama in time to shop and take photos of cosplayers before the line-up starts for the afternoon show.
My Japan is in the joy of finding that one cd in the tight aisles of Mandarake. Or grabbing a new series off the sheld at Book-Off just because I /can/.
My Japan is choco-banana pancakes and cookies with tea at midnight, and otousan looking at us funny and going 'mata geemu?'
My Japan is lemon tea and melon pan, graduating from Bikkuri Ramen class, and hearing 5 different languages everyday. Sunday morning breakfasts with okonomi-pankakes and L'arc en Ciel on the playstation. Gyoza and rice, and pasta with spaghetti sauce that's just a little too thin.
My Japan is riding to karaoke in the midnight rain because my mind won't work on projects anymore. Then falling asleep in front of the computer, and deciding to ditch Anthropology just this once, because I want to go to Osaka one more time.
My Japan is walking through Osaka at midnight, searching for Namba because we know it's in the middle somewhere. My Japan is leaving Karaoke at 2 am and laughing at the slightly drunk boys in suits trying to take us out for a drink. My Japan is the moments of silence just walking though Osaka for the last time before the airport bus picked me up.

My Japan is filled with quests and fantasy, where Tim and Chris will conquer the world with the help of Go and ninjas. Where Dale can sell yaoi doujinshi to unsuspecting fangirls over ebay, where Andy is a bard who can sing the tales of our glorious feats, but can't get you to Mandarake without going through the underground mall in Umeda.

That's my Japan. And since most of it makes no sense, you don't have to read it. But there it is.
