ネオロマンスフェスタ6~大阪
So today was everything that last day in Tokyo could have been.
This morning went rather well, and after a nice pancake breakfast, we departed Seminar House around 11:30 with yakisoba bento and choco-pan.
My hair was up in pseudo-Rosalia (which may be a new favorite style) with ribbons and all, and Kat was all adorable in her girl-Marcel clothes. The tenki was ii, the trains were in our favor and all was right with the world.
The walk from Namba to the event hall was rather simple and not all that long at all. (Though my sense of distance when walking it totally broken now, thanks to Japan. It was about halfway from Namba to Osaka-eki, I would guess.
We were worried we'd have trouble finding the exact place until we looked up into the park ahead of us and saw cosplayers. There was a community park right across a little street from the event hall, and all the cosplayers had congregated there. It was a happy, happy park, but we decided to head in to the Market before we settled in for lunch and cosplay-watching.
On the way we stumbled into Randy smoking in the hallway. /That/ was rather strange.
The market was a little hen, being as it was on a stage in a mini-theatre rather than a normal dealer-room-like setup like they had in Tokyo. Still, we got the program book (both of us) and glowsticks! I walked away from the pillow for monetary reasons at first, but after finding that Kat had bought Suzaku, and that it was a reversible pillow, I walked through the suddenly non-existent like and became the proud new owner of Seiryuu - The Pillow. With our bags of happiness proudly in hand, we headed back out to the park to eat lunch and hang out.
Due to lack of time, I'll cover the cosplayers and the events of the next several hours later... because they're harder to forget. Short version: Japanese fangirls rock. Osaka cosplay is slightly more ghetto, but on the whole more friendly than Tokyo cosplay. No one cosplays Trois Olivie. I am not the only Hayami Show fan in the world. ^_^
So after the best afternoon ever, we headed inside to find our seats. I think the word '近すぎる' was all I could think at the time, but after a bottle of Aquarius, a bathroom trip, and a sanity moment outside in the hall, I was all good.
When the lights finally went down and the curtain rose, the whole world focused down to the happy perfect moment... and I lived there for two hours.
First, of course, there were introductions. The seiyuu came out. And they were close. So close. Just the realization that I could recognize them, without looking at the screen... it was amazing. I think it's probably good none of my uber-favorite seiyuu were there... because I would have died. Literally.
I noticed at this point that they were not doing the voice clips for their characters live, but that the clips were played over the sound system and then they introduced themselves. Horiuchi Kenyu rocks a lot. Seki Tomokazu still has no idea what to do with introductions... and Nao-kun was... well... really cute.
Then they went into the drama section Ange first and then HaruToki. The Ange drama consisted mostly of Oscar giving Seilan and Charlie advice on being not just shugosei, but single men as well. Not that Seilan cared... but Oscar was really mostly doing it as an ego trip anyway. (Kenyu-san played with the audience so much... there's really nothing like a packed house of fangirls screaming 'Oscar!' in unison at the top of their lungs.) Oscar then proceeded to drag the poor new shugosei to various other worlds, where they used their power to make things better. (And played with the audience more).
Highlight:
Charlie: *after making a boring sad world more genki* Heh. Well, I did pretty well with that.
Oscar: *cough* However, there /is/ one other Guardian of Flame here.
*Charlie and Oscar combine powers* *stage glows very red and orange*
Seilan: You don't think that might have been overdoing it a bit?
Charlie/Oscar: No such thing as too much.
I think the HaruToki drama was meant to be mostly the same as it was in Tokyo. Only the pissy tree tried to eat Inori (leaving Takahashi Naozumi standing on one leg with his arm twisted up behind his head for 15 minutes), and was waiting for it's lover rather than its sister.
I don't remember the exact order after the Drama. I think it went Kin-iro plug, Kin-iro talk, force one of the Kin-iro boys to sing, seiyuu chat, Angelique plug, Kin-iro/closing drama, solo talk scenes, image songs....Notes in particular as follows:
Seiyuu Chat:
The seiyuu lined up in nice chairs on stage. (left to right: Tomokazu, Nao-kun, Hoshi-san, Ishikawa-san ; Itou-san, Madono-san, Iwanaga-san, Kenyu-san)
The seiyuu question for our show:
"Imagine you go for a walk in a forest. It's a deep, deep forest, and suddenly you come to another world... what is there?"
The answers were in no particular order, but Kenyu-san was sorta bitter about being near the end. This is the order as Kat and I think we remember it.
Hoshi Souichiro- "...楽園(パラダイス)..." - He want on to explain that that might involve some girls, but his fellow seiyuu cut him off before he could push the line of appropriateness for a NeoRoma event.
Itou Kentarou - A family house, where everyone is there to say 'Okaeri'. - He explained that it wouldn't necessarily be his house, but a place he could fee was 'home' rather than just a 'house' (and he used those terms in English... whatever). He then tried saying 'Tadaima' to the audience, and was nearly knocked over by the chorus of 'Okaeri' that he got in return)
Ishikawa Hideo - A tennis court, with lots of girls, playing tennis. - In explanation it was clarified that there was probably a fence around the court, but it had to be one he could see through. They tried to make fun of him for being lecherous, but he just used it to bond with Hoshi-san.
Iwanaga Tetsuya - Wasabi (kanji) - The explanation of this had something to do with the Japanese concepts of 'wabi' and 'sabi' being combined into wasabi...
Madono Mitsuaki- 「保志の世界...星の世界」-His explanation of this was that he's meant a world of stars, like a planetarium... but when he went to write it, Hoshi Souichirou was sitting next to him... so he accidentally wrote the wrong kanji. No one believed this story of course, as it sounded like a pretty silly reason to miswrite kanji. That led to discussion of what exactly a '保志の世界' would be. As in, a world filled with Hoshi Souichiro, just a lot of him all over the place. Or perhaps, as Nao-kun suggested, it would be like a planetarium, but everywhere you look would just be Houshi Souichiro instead of stars, and every now and then there'd be a 'nagare-hoshi' (pun from nagare-boshi (shooting star))... and he'd go flying across the sky. Madono-san then added that in that case, you'd probably hear him, as he flew across the sky: 'Iya~~' 'Yamete kudasai~~!'.
Takahashi Naozumi- An ocean, and a lot of really wonderful things (the description included about 8 ~'s) Summary: 気持ちいい~~~! - Sadly, they didn't talk much about his. He really couldn't pick one thing, but it basically came down to an onsen by an ocean and that it would be wonderful... and that he'd probably take a picture of it with his cell phone.
Horiuchi Kenyu - A beautiful lake - The explanation of exactly what he was picturing and the feel he was trying to convey too a good several paragraphs, during which no one had room to shove a word in edgewise.
Seki Tomokazu - 「寿司屋」(A sushi restaurant) - which really brought it all together... because there would be a sushi shop that obviously had wasabi. It would be attached to Nao-kun's onsen, and the fish for the sushi would come from Kenyu-san's lake. Of course, Hoshi Souichiro would be there (possibly several times over... and the tennis girls could eat/work there (not sure).
At the end of the chat, the MC called the HaruToki boys back, and handed them a secret sneaky envelope.... but I think Kat's covering this part, so I'll move on. Suffice it to say that my world is a happy place, and all the seiyuu that I'd thought were slacking are now forgiven... except Koyasu. Whatever.
Solo Dramas and Image songs
The Drama scenes were nice... is a bit disappointing because it meant for certain that Nao-kun would not be singing. Ishikawa-san did one... and it made me happy. He's really a lot better looking than I had thought before, and he has the same very laid back attitude that I love about Miki-san. His acting style is cool too.
Oscar also did one, which was sweet and fluffy... and Charlie, thus saving me having "Optimist" stuck in my head all night.
The songs, were a nice combination of new and stuff from Tokyo. Seilan sang again, making me want to buy YELLOW. He was followed by Hoshi Souichiro... who still sounds like Goku, but is rather good despite that... and really cute. Closing the show was Seki Tomokazu, and I swear he added about two choruses there at the end of the song. He really puts everything into his performances... and thus, he rocks.
The closing was sad, but balanced with anticipation. My arm still hurts from all the waving I did.
The first Encore, they sang "Bokura no Anniversary". Takahashi Naozumi and Ishikawa Hideo both did solos, as did Horiuchi Kenyu. The amount of running back and forth and waving that took place was incredible. And I know Seki-san saw us... actually, I know he saw us before that. ふっふん。
What Osaka did that Tokyo failed at (besides being more responsive, relaxed and funny) was demanding a second Encore. All they did was come back and do more waving and bowing, but it was cool. And it was then that I think Nao-kun saw us. His eyes kept just missing us, most of the time, but I felt eye-contact towards the end of the second Encore... and that was the coolest thing ever.

Well, it feels nice to have all that recorded. The events following are a bit of a blur until about my second full glass of Coke at Outback Grill (Best. Burger. Ever.) But I'm sure I'll cover all that later. And Emma, must talk about Emma too. She rocks.
[Current Time: 1:36 AM, 2 May 2004] Now, I'd better get to sleep. We have to go meet Takahashi Naozumi today, after all. And do some other stuff, I think... but that's really the point of the day.
Current Bishounen: Yorihisa, Ishikawa Hideo, and Olivie
