I have two things to babble about before I go to sleep.
1) I started rewatching Weiβ Kreuz tonight, and no amount of knowing how horribly cliche and lame it is can reduce my enjoyment of it. Actually, despite the age of the show, the art and the voice performances are actually quite good. Even the background characters, who aren't big names most of the time. If anyone throws me for a loop it's actually Koyasu, because for some reason that's not how Aya sounds in my head.
After all these years, I still love these characters; love the ridiculous predictable plots; love all of it. People can judge me, I really don't care. XD I'm also importing most of the CDs again, to see if I still like the music as much as I remember. I guess we'll see.

2) It's CD Japan sale time again, and even though I have no money I'm poking through things and making a list for things that I like and might want some day.
-New Kusuda Toshiyuki CD
-Meisa's "One More Drama" CD - First Press, with DVD and poster. ^_^
-Nao-kun's Yumekibo Ressha Limited edition still available.
-Amuro Namie Single "Break It/Get Myself Back"
-Crystal Kay's "Journey" - because I need more of her music.
-Nao-KUN'S "Infinity" album - since I recently realized that I really need more of hi
-As a note that I can't be bothered to research at the moment, I should also look into finishing my collection of HaruDaki manga and Drama CDs, since I think they're all completed now. CDs got up to volume 8 and the manga finished at Volume 14. Since the CDs tended to cover a little more than one volume that means the CDs are probably complete as well. And I could really use more MikiShin in my life lately. As well as MoriMori. ^_^

Other ranty things could include ways in which my computer is freaking me out lately, ways in which work is crazy, and ways in which I am not working on packing or cosplay nearly enough right now, but I'm happy in my escapism so I'll let all that be for the moment.

Especially fannish things.

So, I just managed to pay enough attention to realize that:

1) It's Sho's birthday and therefore Aquarius season and therefore nearly [personal profile] baranoneko's birthday as well as my fathers and Benkei's.

2) TeniPuri Festa 2011 just completed! (there are fun pics available on [profile] shinkata_san) They had some great cast this year, including all Seigaju (duh), all of Rikkai (Nao-kun!), all most of the important bits of Hyoutei, and all the important bits of Higa. Plus random Kishio Daisuke and Tosshi! A DVD I will certainly be wishing I could afford to import. Ugh but I hate the exchange rate right now.

3) My fandom shifts have been a bit ridiculous since I started my podfic addiction. Probably because my two most hardcore fandoms before the podfic addiction have one and zero recorded stories respectively. Boo. On the other hand, I have fallen in /love/ with certain of Katie Forsythe's work and with that particular fandom in both new and old incarnations.

4) I am now TWO FULL ALBUMS behind on my Sakamoto Maaya collection. I may be trying to rectify this in the near future. I'm so excited that she hit number one on the Oricon weekly sales, I'll feel remiss if I don't attempt to contribute to a good second week showing.

Hello 2011, here's hoping you bring me more focus and attention for the things I love. (Also, a bit more money would be nice.)

Ten years ago, on a much smaller and more insular internet, I found a website for a little gathering called 'YaoiCon'. I was still two years and a month too young to attend, being only 15 with a birthday coming up in September.

Until now, the only time I've attended the event was in 2005, to see mangaka Higuri You and Kazuma Kodaka. This year is YCon's tenth anniversary. This year I get to go again, to see seiyuu Kiuchi Hidenobu and Okiayu Ryoutarou, as well as the awesome author Lynn Flewelling ([profile] otterdance ).

Since YCon is usually around Halloween, a holiday which I can almost never take off in my industry, this may be the last time I get a chance to attend for a while. Also, Okiayu Ryoutarou. I mean... I would travel almost anywhere in the world to meet this man in person. So. Yeah.

Since it worked pretty well for AO, here's my list of stuff to get done before the con:

I'm updating again? Woah.

Some random things:
-[profile] starlit_dragon is in Japan, so 2/3 of the people I see most often outside of work are now there. I hung out with by Brother on monday night to make up for this. :D
-AX: MoriMori's hair, woah! I still always expect him to be blonde. (Photo was from [profile] double_dear. Yell at me if it's a problem to post it here.)
-NDK: It's that time of year in my store.... and it makes me panicy ever time a cosplayer talks to me. I'm like 'Aaaah, costumes aren't done!'.... even though two of mine totally are.

Thanks to the people who gave me feedback on the work-related letter I posted the other day. (Not everyone saw it, so ignore this if you didn't) Work has been better this week so far... and hopfully we'll get back into the nice balance that we've had historically really soon.

Hey Flist?

.... I may need to attend Anime Expo this year.
And by 'may' I mean 'will be' and by 'need' I mean 'OMG Morikawa Toshiyuki!'.

Does anyone maybe have a hotel room maybe? That they would like an extra person in? A relatively small person with some costumes from games that no one has ever played. (Haruka, Apocripha and Gakuen Heaven at this con.) I'm very quiet, I'll sleep pretty much anywhere, I love seiyuu and speak Japanese.

I kept putting off a new years post and now all you get is one full of memes.

I love this man. And am so sad that the stupid fangirls had to ruin the whole commenting thing for all of us. New Years was exactly the sort of day when I really really wanted to leave a comment for him.

And then the promised memes. One I stole from [profile] dilettantka...

Am rather worried about the whole 'half of LJ staff fired' business. Sad times for all.
setra: (Default)
Apparently LJ will be down tomorrow.... this makes me very sad.

So before it goes down, I need to wish a lovely lovely birthday to [profile] shinkata_san, better known as Okiayu Ryoutarou. He turned 39 years old yesterday. *applauds*
I love this man and his voice more than any other seiyuu or actor I've ever heard, seen or known of. And I hope he has a truly wonderful year. (If only idiot fangirls hadn't lost us all the right to comment on his blog. ;_;)

And that's all. Good night LJ, see you all on the flipside of this server mess.

So... this will be a very babble-ful con report, but feel free to read on if you want.
Nan Desu Kan 2008 )

Now we're home and actually considering certain costumes that I swore I'd never be involved with. Seriously. I mean it. I'm looking into friendly plastic and wonderflex and ... dear sweet lord, what have I started?
It's been a really really long time since I got home from a con still going 'OMG, I want to sew!' I want to sew NOW! And not curtains, which is my next project.

[Note to self - need appropriate Saitoh and Saitoh are SRS Business - icon.]

So, despite having no intention of buying a lot of things in the near future, I feel the need to search for and list out all the things that I /want/ should my current bit of money succeed in burning a hole through my pocket.

-Best Actors 12 - KiteKiteKite! Even if I don't love Luke that much, I feel obligated.
-Best Actors 11 - I'm not fond of Dai-chan... but he /can/ sing.
-The Higa album - Remember that feeling of obligation to my noble school of purple pirates? Yeah... >.>
-Sanada & Tezuka Single!? - I have no idea how to feel about this, but if it involves Okiayu-san, I may end up getting it anyway.
-New Akaya Single! - I don't know that I'll buy it, but I'm excited anyway. Morikubo-san has such a good voice. ^^
-DL5 Soundtrack - The fact that it releases on the same day as Higa's album has nothing to do with my desire to put in an advance order for the both of them. Really.
-Yoru no Chirarizumu Vol.4 - There are CDS! And Okiayu is a guest on this one... >.>
-Kurenai no Tsuki Vocal Collection - ;_; I want. I want a Neoroma CD for the first time in a /long/ time... but I really shouldn't buy it.

Also! Anyone in the FC area need stuff from CDJapan? I'm ordering 100-Song Marathon and i'd love to split shipping with someone.... [profile] ashitara? any further thoughts about the Time con?

I finally stopped being flaily a while ago. We finally went shopping for groceries. My stuff was around $50, the shared stuff was only $40. I still don't have pencils, 10x10 graph paper or flat thumb tacks. -.-
We're both almost out of our Good Times gift cards from Kat. (You fed us for a whole month+! Sankyuu~ <3 ^^)
[personal profile] summerqueen emailed me today about the /awesome/ that will be Fanime. It made me nervous and excited and everything. Maybe that started me being flaily.

But... this post... this post is because... remember when I posted I win?

I..... I /did/.

Anyone else going to Fanime in 2008?

I really, really, win.

I submitted my second guess for the YCon/Fanime seiyuu guest challenge.
Along with it, I submitted a note stating that if I was correct, then one of their clues was mistaken in some details.
They edited said details on the YCon hint page.

Ergo, I win. :Dv

I feel like a rockstar... all because I'm a complete seiyuu nerd. Mmmyep. :D

Also, spent some time this afternoon working on an AnS picspam and purchased an awesome origami book this evening.

I love days off.

Bad brain!

*will not read Nao-kun's shirt*
*will not attempt to contemplate meanings in congregation with more random engrish on the back*
*absolutely will not think about how outfit #3 looks like a Rikku cosplay gone slightly wrong... ~_~* (or perhaps it's just shades of Yuuki Hiro...)

*dislikes patterns which only tell you how to do things if you understand thier crazy moonspeak, and which incompletely list required notions*
*cannot sew anymore because the purple thread ran out*
*is tired and in pain and will now commence to read Harry Potter until she sleeps*

Jack Sparrow - 平田 広明 (Hirata Hiroaki) [Roles - Gojyo]
Will Turner - 平川 大輔 (Hirakawa Daisuke) [Roles]
Barbossa - 壤晴彦
Elizabeth Swann- 弓場沙織
Governor Swann - 村松 康雄 (Muramatsu Yasuo) [Roles]
(Elizabeth and Barbossa had no roles listed on my primary reference site. More later perhaps, if I can find anything.)
Jack sounded like Gojyo, and acted like Gojyo... and it was so creepily well dubbed. Mmm. Wierdness is my head. The translations were cool and the timing was good... and of course, there's always the goodness that is inately Pirates. I wish I owned this DVD... I may yet break down and buy it. ^_^
Now I think I'll go watch more of Spring or play something. Fun fun.

It's been a long time since I ranted about PotC... but I think this deserves a note:
In Japanese, Captain Jack Sparrow is voiced by... Hirata Hiroaki!
Yes. Gojyo. Gojyo and Jack Sparrow have the same Japanese voice actor. And Kat and I called it. ^_^
More later, I want to go finish the movie.
setra: (Default)

Yes. I found Miki Shin-ichiro's webpage... the real one. Finnaly.
Of course, it was linked from the NeoRoma Paradise Cure website, so I don't know what took me so long. Sadly, there's very little there, and I can't tell whether it's just because he's a slacker or because it's a very new page (I think the latter).
So, that's all I have to say for today. Now I think I'm going home to watch Sailor Moon and Gundam SEED. Or maybe just play FF8, finnally. We're not talking about today's tests. At least, I'm not.

Current Bishounen: Yohji

Today was long... still will be probably. Woke up at 9 for 'Kyou kara Ma-oh'... which gets more subtexty by the episode, and still looks really cool.
Then I showered really fast and took off with Tim to the BookOff on Route 1. Bought another 100 yen worth of 10-yen singles, and started a member card. (Now that I've already spent like $50+ at various BookOffs... I felt really dumb)
Then I cought a bus down to Hirakata-shi, and an Express to Tanbabashi to meet up with the Religion class for our field trip to the Tenrikyo headquarters. I was early, but hung out with James for a bit, so that was cool. We randomly ran into Andy and Alice, who had not been planning to go on the field trip, but ended up coming anyway.
Tenrikyo was awesome. I really like thier ideas, and the way they present themselves. It's nice to find a religion that I think I could really truly follow without reservation
More recently, I had curry for dinner and I have CD dramas. I like this renting them for 300 yen and ripping them to mp3. It makes me happy.
Notes on '絆 - Kizuna II -' (yaoi warning) )
Ok, ok... now it's 10:45 and I've listened to parts of Disc 2 like three times. I'm going to go do something else. ^_^

Current Bishounen: Ranmaru and Tashiro (mostly Tashiro)
setra: (Default)
First off: I did some research on the new drama CD series that [profile] snbmeg scanned an ad for.
The title is 'Shounen Onmyouji' (onmyouji being Japanese semi-daoist spirit-magic users, like Subaru and Seishirou from X). The first drama disc's subtitle is 'Searching the Shadows of a Foreign Country'.

Of course, that was actually the most recent thing I did, after sleeping through my one class, shopping and working on flash cards while watching first Nao-kun on the kitchen TV and then Weiss on the downstairs one.
Previously Delayed Rant on Weiss Last Live '03 - Tagesanbruch )
Then we watched Prince of Tennis with The Fangirls... it is so very, very bad. But I know I'll probably like it if I watch from the begining. And then I came here, and began tis entry. So that brings me full circle. Yep... and now I'm off to study. Yep. Tommorrows gonna suck, and I won't even have RELOAD or Paradise Cure to help make it better. *sigh*

Current Bishounen: Miki Shin-ichirou and Yuuki Hiro
setra: (Default)
Well... I settled down here in the dark and watched the dvd... about 1.7 times. o_O Though I fell asleep during "New Innocent Demand" and didn't wake up till my mom came down during curtain call. I really need to start sleeping more that five or six hours a night.
Cut for obsessive rant )
Someday I'll stop making 5 entries a day. Yep.

And with that, my second trivia challenge of the day:
6 Degrees of Hayashibara Megumi (played the same way as the Kevin Bacon version ^_^)
Connect Hayashibara Megumi to the following seiyuu (bonus points for not using Eva, because that's cheap)
-Ogata Megumi
-Mitsuishi Kotono
-Seki Toshihiko

Ok. I don't know what happened to doing stuff today, but I wish people would call me. さあ~ じゃ、また!

So... there is a cat licking my hand. Why? I know not... perhaps my skin carries the valuable minerals that she needs. Maybe she's trying to be comforting. Maybe if she licks long enough, the skin will be raw and she can eat me. Maybe she's insane. Or perhaps I am. After all, I just typer all that with one hand while my cat licked my other hand...
And now she leaves, off to explore under the desk. Whatever. So... quizes.

Boys, boys are good. I'm really sorry to Craig and Nick and Meaghan for dinner tonight. Jessica and I ranted about bishonen... and while Kat could sorta interact on the Weiss discussion, I was about the only person who knew about Marmalade Boy. But happy is good, and bishonen make me happy.
Oh, and this quiz...
You should be a Libra, Cosmopolitan, refined,
amiable, sociable, happy, generous, realistic,
charming, gracious, affectionate, balanced,
diplomatic, easy-going, elegant, charming,
flirtatious, committed, objective but can be
indecisive, emotionally complex, vague,
dependent, distant, argumentative, depressed,
exhausted, materialistic, superficial, self-
indulgent, easily-offended

In which I am told that I should be a Libra even though I'm really a... Libra... right. Ok. Hisoka is a Libra. So is Olivie-sama.
Tsuzuki is a pices. Not like a certain other Pices I know... Shin'ichirou Miki-sama is a Pices too, as is Youji-kun. Muraki is NOT a Scorpio! But he is a Sagitarrius. Whee!
Oh. End of the previous Bishonen/Bishojo contest. Kat wins with 8.5 correct. Corina and Stephanie come in next at 5 and 2 respectively. Box of Pocky to the winner next time I see her.
Anyway... better just post this for now. More later... maybe.

New contest on the Bishonen! Same as before. Name the shows in which the voice actor plays the roles. No cheating and looking it up!
Bishonen: Miki Shin'ichirou (Keisuke, Youji, Takumi, Kojiro, Allen, Tsuzuki)
Bishojo: Ogata Megumi (Bonus points for any characters she played, double bonus for who and in what show her debut was. ^_^)
